Seasonal Produce

January usually means a health kick and vows to eat more fruit and vegetable and less chocolate and crisps. Well eating more vegetables couldn’t be more enjoyable with our favourite 3 for January.

Cabbage

Cabbage is an old favourite; full of flavour, packed with vitamins and versatile as well. Why not try frying with bacon, onions and garlic for a tasty side dish or simply steamed and served with a knob of butter and a twist of cracked black pepper.

Leeks

With a mild, sweet flavour when cooked the leek is an amazingly versatile vegetable. At its best during the winter months, the leek is packed full of nutrients perfect for fighting off colds and flues. Perfect for adding to soup bases, frying or baking.

Potatoes

The world’s most famous root vegetable, the potato is loved by all. With so much you can do with potatoes there’s no wonder it is one of the most popular foods. Mash them, roast them, add them to curries, the list really is endless!
